About preslice

preslice opens 3MF, STL and OBJ files in your browser. For a .3mf it shows the print settings, filaments, plates and mesh inside, and checks the file for known attacks. An STL or OBJ shows its mesh. .3mf is the 3MF Consortium's own 3MF Core Specification.

What can I do with it?

  • Read a file's settings without opening a slicer, on any device.
  • Check a file from a stranger before you slice it.
  • Change a setting and download the edited file.
  • Convert a file to another slicer or to your own printer.

The full feature list is on the download page.

Which slicers does it read?

PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, Cura and Creality Print. A .3mf from anything else still opens for its geometry. See the slicers.

Does my file leave my browser?

No. The mesh, the file and its name stay in your browser. See what Convert and hardware search send.

What if my slicer will not open the file?

Find the message your slicer showed in fixing errors. If preslice will not open it either, see when a file will not open.

Will preslice stay free?

Yes. Like Excalidraw and Tally, preslice will keep its core features free. I am however also hoping to make a living from it one day, and plan to later add a Pro plan for businesses with specialized needs.

The server exists because Convert and hardware search need a shared library of slicer profiles and 3D printer equipment. It has no ads or analytics and sells no data, and your 3d models never reach it.

Where do I start?

Read getting started. Questions or bugs go to feedback@lovlar.dev or r/preslice.
