OrcaSlicer to Cura
You can, with real losses. Cura prints one plate and keeps one extruder per slot, so volumes, layer ranges, colour paint and part settings do not come along. Object settings drop too, and the Notes table counts them.
What happens to my plates?
Cura prints one plate. The one you pick sits on the bed and the rest park
beside it. Nothing is removed. Each parked plate gets a Plate N / off the bed row: Cura prints one plate. Drag them onto the bed.
What happens to filaments?
Each slot becomes one extruder train, up to the printer definition's
machine_extruder_count. Past that, filaments merge by material, then colour.
Pick the same filament twice under Change filament to share a slot.
What does Cura drop?
- Modifiers and negative volumes: dropped. One row reads
N volumes dropped, with object names behind it. - Layer ranges:
Layer range/not carried. Cura has no per-height settings. - Colour paint:
Paint/N painted triangles/not carried. preslice does not convert paint to Cura textures. - Support and seam paint: stays in the file, but Cura ignores it, and no row says so.
- Object settings:
Object settings/N objects/dropped. - Part settings: dropped, with no row.
Which Cura settings stay at default?
Any setting Orca cannot express, for example ironing_flow
(fdmprinter.def.json).
The Cura printer profile you chose fills the rest.
Where else is this explained?
See what a conversion cannot carry. To go the other way, read Cura to OrcaSlicer.
