The file does not contain any geometry data

Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and Creality Print all show the same warning: The file does not contain any geometry data. (Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, Creality Print). The slicer read the file and found no object to put on the plate.

Is the model on the plate, with The 3mf file has invalid config, load geometry data only? That is a different problem; see Bambu Studio says invalid config.

Can I print it anyway?

No. There is nothing to slice. The fix depends on which of the causes below you have.

Why is there no geometry?

Cause How it happens
Missing parts A Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer project keeps each object in its own part, and the copy you have lost them
A file that is not a .3mf Someone renamed a .stl, .step or .zip to .3mf
An export the slicer cannot read Some CAD exports write faces with more than three corners; the reports name FreeCAD 0.21

Is my file broken?

Open it in preslice to find out. preslice names each part the file points at and does not hold, so a lost part and an empty file look different.

How do I find the cause with preslice?

  1. Drop the .3mf on preslice.co.
  2. Read the 3D view.

If it says Geometry missing: 1 model part with /3D/Objects/object_1.model is not in this file., the parts were lost. The Mesh objects list in the 3MF Content tab says the same. If preslice cannot open the file at all, it is probably not a .3mf; it names what failed.

How do I fix missing parts?

Nothing can rebuild them from this copy. Download the file again, or ask the person who sent it to save the project again. A file that was cut off mid-save or mid-download is the usual source.

How do I fix a renamed file or a CAD export?

Give the file its real extension and open it as that format. For a CAD export, export again as STL, or as 3MF from a newer version of the CAD tool, and check it in preslice before you slice.

What about Cura?

Cura says There were no models instead, and for a different reason. See Cura says there were no models.
