OrcaSlicer loads a 3MF as geometry only
OrcaSlicer opened your file with
The 3MF file was generated by BambuStudio, loading geometry data only. or
The 3MF file was generated by an old OrcaSlicer version, loading geometry data only.
Both are in OrcaSlicer 2.4.2's
Plater.cpp.
The parts are on the plate and no print settings came with them.
Can I slice it anyway?
Yes. OrcaSlicer uses the printer, filament and process you had selected. The file never had settings for it to load.
Why does OrcaSlicer say generated by BambuStudio?
The file names Bambu Studio as its writer and carries no project settings. OrcaSlicer reads a full Bambu Studio project without this message, so a file that gets it was saved as a model only.
Why does it say an old OrcaSlicer version?
In OrcaSlicer 2.3.2 and earlier, any .3mf without settings got this message,
including exports from Onshape and Fusion
(Plater.cpp).
The file was never from OrcaSlicer. From 2.4.0, a CAD export opens silently.
In 2.4.2 the message is left for a file stamped by OrcaSlicer itself that has
no settings.
Is my file broken?
No. The geometry is complete, and so is everything a CAD tool writes.
What about found the following unrecognized keys?
The 3MF file version %s is newer than %s's version %s, found the following unrecognized keys:
(Plater.cpp)
means a newer OrcaSlicer saved the file. The settings load, and the listed keys
are dropped because your version has no field for them. A newer Bambu Studio
file gets Found unrecognized settings: instead
(Plater.cpp).
Update OrcaSlicer to keep them.
How do I add settings with preslice?
- Drop the
.3mfon preslice.co. - Open the Convert tab.
- Turn on the switch next to Change slicer, then click Orca.
- Turn on the switch next to Change printer. Open the printer list and pick your printer. Printers saved under My print settings are marked.
- Click Convert.
- Click the tab with your file name, then the button that starts with Download 3MF.
The download opens in OrcaSlicer as a project with that printer's profile. For a full Bambu Studio project, see Bambu Studio to OrcaSlicer.
Can I fix it by hand instead?
Yes. Pick your printer, filament and process in OrcaSlicer after the geometry loads, then save the project.
What will still not carry?
Settings the file never had. A CAD export has no layer height or temperature to recover. See what a conversion cannot carry.
