Converting a file
Convert aims a .3mf at another slicer, or at the hardware you own. Convert is
in beta. Open the result in your slicer before printing.
How do I convert?
- Open the Convert tab.
- Tick what to change: slicer, printer, nozzle, bed, filament or calibration.
- Pick from the list. Your own hardware is marked.
- Click Convert, then download from the change list.
Change only the printer and the rest of your settings stay as they were. Edit a setting before you convert, and that edit carries into the result, not the file's original value.
Picking a calibration also picks its printer, nozzle, bed and filament, only where they differ from the file. Open another file after that, and it starts with the same picks, filaments matched by colour.
Can I convert with my own saved print settings?
Yes. Pick My print profiles on the Convert tab instead of a slicer. It converts with no server request, so it works offline too.
Can I change the filament without the server?
Yes, with a saved print profile picked. Change filament, Change bed and Change nozzle type pick from My inventory and apply in your browser. Printer and Process stay fixed.
A filament must match the diameter the printer takes. Otherwise Convert
refuses with S5 takes 2.85 mm filament, not 1.75 mm.
What does the Notes table say?
Each row is something to check: a value that was changed, replaced or left out. It reads what you asked for, what you got, and why.
| What | Requested | Received | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
Nozzle |
0.6 mm |
0.4 mm |
No 0.6 mm profile for this printer |
What if my file has more filaments than the printer?
Convert merges them down. Notes show one row per filament, and a run of merged
filaments reads Filaments 3 to 16. A Purge volumes row reads recalculated.
A one-extruder PrusaSlicer printer takes the file this way, with a row such as
MINI has one extruder.
Where did each setting come from?
The settings card labels every value with its source: the target profile, your
original file, your hardware, or your own edits. Every renamed key comes from
that slicer's own field definitions, such as
PrusaSlicer's PrintConfig.cpp.
What does not carry over?
Some slicers have no place for some things. See what a conversion cannot carry.

Is there a profile for my printer?

Can I convert a file with no settings?
Yes. For an STL, click Convert to 3MF first. The new .3mf gets the
target slicer's default printer, filament and settings. Pick your own hardware
to replace them.
