Cura to OrcaSlicer
Convert first. A Cura file holds one plate of meshes and per-model settings, and the converted file gives OrcaSlicer one slot per extruder train.
Do I need to convert first?
Yes. Converting translates Cura's settings into OrcaSlicer keys and gives each extruder train its own filament slot. Then read the Notes table for anything left out.
What carries over from Cura to OrcaSlicer?
- Plate: one. A Cura file holds a single plate, and it ships as one plate.
- Filaments: one slot per Cura extruder train.
filament_typeandfilament_colourcarry as written. - Object settings: translated key by key from Cura's per-model section. A key with no match in OrcaSlicer stays out.
- Geometry: Cura writes one vertex per triangle corner. The download reindexes that mesh without changing the shape.
What does OrcaSlicer lose?
Cura declares no layer ranges and no volume lineage, so those have nothing to carry. Cura paints with a texture, not per triangle, and preslice does not convert it to OrcaSlicer paint.
Which OrcaSlicer settings stay at default?
Any key Cura cannot express, for example adaptive_pressure_advance.
The printer profile you chose fills the rest.
What are the shared losses?
See what a conversion cannot carry. To go the other way, read OrcaSlicer to Cura.
