3D printer blocking laws
New York, California and Washington want 3D printers to scan each file and refuse guns and gun parts. This page says how preslice fits each one. It is not legal advice.
What does each law ask?
A printer sold in the state must run a check that rejects files for guns and gun parts. The duty falls on the companies that make or sell printers.

Does preslice see my model?
No. Your file, its mesh and its name stay in your browser. The server has no model to scan or hand over. See what leaves your browser.
Do these laws require preslice to scan files?
Not as written. All three bind printer makers and sellers. preslice sells no printer, makes no G-code and never sends a job to a printer.
What about the slicer route in Washington's bill?
HB 2321 lets a printer accept jobs only from one approved slicer that runs the
check. That slicer turns your model into G-code. preslice edits the .3mf
before it reaches any slicer. It is not that slicer.
Is it a crime to hold a gun file in New York?
The New York law makes it a crime to sell or share gun files without a license, or to hold them intending to make an illegal gun. preslice does not host or share files. Each one stays on your machine.
